Right to Read Week

Book Fair:

The book fair will be taking place all week  Students will have a designated day and time to go with their classes.

Student Council Book Swap/Sale:

During Right to Read Week, students are asked to say "good-bye" to books they have outgrown. Students are to bring in books from home that they no longer want. The following week March 15-19, students will say "Hello" to some new books. Students will shop for books wich will be 25 cents. The money will go towards the Student Council Scholarship Fund. Student Council will find any "left-over" books a good home.

Grade-level reading exchange:

Grades (K & 6; 1 & 5; 2 & 6; 3 & 7; 4 & 8) will pair up and have students read and share books together at different times throughout the week.

Placemats for Shawnee Springs Nursing Home:

Students will create a "reading themed" placemat to give to the residents of Shawnee Springs.

Reading BINGO:

This game will be taking place all week for the whole school. Classes will create a large BINGO card to put in front of the classroom. They will then choose 16 book titles from a master list collected from all of the teacher's favorite books. Periodically during the week a title will be called over the loud speaker. We will be playing a COVER ALL game and prizes can be collected when you cover all of your book titles.

Grades K-4 "Curl Up With A Good Book" Day (Friday, March 12):

Students in grades K-4 may bring in a favorite pillow, stuffed animal, and/or napper/blanket.  Bring in some of your favorite books to read to yourself and to share with others.  We will have a fun day "curling up with a good book!"

Grades K-4 Reading Contracts:

Students will get a reading contract on Monday, March 8th and will be working on activities at home.  They will return the completed contracts on March 15th for a prize.

Madcaps Productions Puppet Show:

This is an ALL SCHOOL assembly in the gym on Wednesday, March 10 at 2:00pm.
